To start off our trip, I caught an afternoon flight into LGA. Nervous as always that it would be late and ruin everything, the flight took off perfectly on time in beautiful weather. Larry picked me up at LGA a little bit late right on time and we taxied to JFK. When we got there we realized our flight was an hour late. No big deal, so we grabbed some dinner.

After dinner, we found out our flight was an hour and a half delayed, still no big deal, so we headed to the Admirals Lounge (yeah business class).

About 40 minutes before our new departure time we got ready to head out, only to find out our flight was now 2 hours delayed. aargh. anyway, to make a long story short we finally got on the plane, to our confy, large-foot-roomed seats.

Good stuff right? Well, apparently after we left the gate some kind of “emergency” happened at JFK which left us 57th in line to take off. So, about 4 hours after our original departure time, we take off.
All went well until about an hour before landing. We slept, watched some tv, etc. However, I took one last nap and woke up with very dry eyes. I rubbed them a couple times and realized the contact in my right eye was no longer there. My eye hurt though, so I thought it was still in my eye. After two trips to the bathroom to check it out, I finally woke up a very sleepy L, who was very calm and helped me perform minor surgury to finally get the contact that was stuck to my upper eyelid out. whew.
We landed shortly after, took a cab to the Hotel Palomar (which is a cute, boutique hotel in Union Square, San Fran) and passed out.
